- AKC Lure Coursing

- The Sunshine State Lure Coursing Club of Central Florida will be hosting an AKC trial on June 19th and 20th at Rocking Horse Ranch in Altoona.
Junior Courser (JC) tests will be held first thing each morning, followed by Qualifying Certification runs. Under the new AKC rules, dogs who have not previously run with other dogs must now complete a Qualifying Certification run with a dog of similar type before competing in trials with other dogs.
Dogs must be at least 1 year old to compete and no bitches in season are allowed.

- Our club will be holding it's annual spring fun day at Karol & Howard Valentine's home in Lithia, FL on Sunday, March 28th, from 11am until 4 pm. Here are the plans:
* ADMISSION & LUNCH: $9 members, $12.50 non-members
Food will be provided by Cafe Max - All You Can Eat Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Beans, Cole Slaw, Dessert and Drinks
* Puppy Match - two matches, one for show pups and one for pets. Both will be judged by Suzanne Foster. Prizes awared to all! Cost: $1 per entry for members and non-members
* Lure Coursing practice - $1 per entry for members and $5 per entry for non-members
* Casey Carpenter will demostrate games to play with your dog
* Raffle Basket - everyone is asked to bring ONE item to place in one huge raffle basket.
* 50/50 raffle
* Jeannie Armstrong will talk about the future plans for the Club, including AKC affiliation

Our Lure Coursing practice day is open to both members and non-members. Cost for the event for members is $5 and non-members pay $10. We will be having a BBQ - burgers and hotdogs furnised, everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass. For this event, puppies will be allowed to practice short runs. Bitches in heat are not allowed!! Also bring chairs, crates and pray for a no rain day!!

- Several club members attended this event, as well as some non members from out of town, with the result of 7 new Junior Coursers crowned! Members whose dogs earned this title are Jason Kellogg and his boy, TC, and Ginny Merchant's girl, Esme, On Saturday, Finn (owned by Denise Eberhard, Matt Coughlin and Ginny Merchant) won Best of Breed and came in second in Best in Field. On Sunday, Esme not only earned her Junior Courser title, she went on to win Best of Breed for a 3 point major towards her FC title! Finn came in second and earned 1 point towards his FC title!
CONGRATS TO ALL THE PROUD OWNERS & DOGS!!!!
