END OF THE YEAR PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

After two years serving as SSRRC’s president, the time has come for me to step aside and welcome a new set of officers and directors with fresh ideas and a new vision for the club.

Please join me in wishing our new president Mathew Coughlin all the best as he guides our club through the
next year with wisdom, experience and a great love of the breed. Also, please  extend a warm welcome to Linda Gaunaurd as Vice President, Ginny Merchant as Secretary, and Lisa McElroy as Treasurer.

I would also like to welcome incoming BOD members Kimberly Myers, Carol Smith and myself, and thank the outgoing Board of Directors, Amanda Kelley, Kathy Vande Lought and Patrick Myers.

Thank you Casey Carpenter for the last two years of hard work and sacrifices you made for the club.

I wish you and your Ridgebacks good health and great happiness in 2012!

September Coursing

It may have been a long wait and a hot day, but the Ridgebacks made their presence known at the AKC coursing event in Ocala.  Several members brought their dogs out for the first time and we all had fun.

Making their coursing debut was Zane.  Owned and loved by Rhonda Johnson.  Zane proved he has what it takes out on the field.

Bindi made her second appearance on the field and earned her first 2 points toward her Field Champion title.  Bindi is owned and loved by Denise Eberhard and Matthew Coughlin.  In this run, her coursing jacket broke and she ran without it.  Bindi placed third out of a field of 16 Ridgebacks.

September 10th saw Riffe make his debut on the field and what a debut it was.  Riffe was Best of Breed and won the 5 point major and ran an awesome Best in Field run.  Riffe is owned and loved by Ross Johnson.

Finn ran his heart out as well, coming in 4th on Saturday.  Though he didn't get any points, he had 2 beautiful runs and placed high in a field full of Ridgebacks.  Finn is owned and loved by Denise Eberhard, Matthew Coughlin and Ginny Merchant.

Another runner was Zuri.  Zuri ran right to 2nd place on Saturday, the 10th and then another 2nd place on Sunday.  Way to Go Zuri!!!
Zuri is owned and loved by Robyn Sasso.

On Sunday, Esme went Best of Breed and earned another major. Esme is 4 points from her Field Championship and her Dual Championship.  Go Esme.  Esme is owned and loved by Ginny Merchant.

Show Brags

SSRRC Members took Atlanta by storm and came home with some AWESOME wins!

Prissy, Amina's I'm A Misbehavin' Timekeeper, won a 5 point major on Friday up in Atlanta.  Way to go Prissy.  Prissy is owned and loved by member, Monica Smith.

Carol Smith and her boys had an awesome week-end in Atlanta as well.

On Friday, Bullet - Ridgehill's Shooter's Red Bullet - was Winner's Dog and Best of Winners for a 5 point major

That same day, Bullet's daddy, Shooter - GCH Mandela's Ridgehill's Straight Shooter was Best of Breed.

Not to be outdone by his pals, Mozart - Rollings Mozart by Spring Valley at Ridgehill - was Winner's Dog for a 5 point major on Sunday.

BRAND NEW CHAMPIONS

ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO ANNOUNCE THE NEW CHAMPIONS

A round of applause for new Champion - CH. Spring Valley's Ridgehill's I Wanna Talk About Me.  Toby finished at the Newton Kennel Club in New Jersey and his owners, Dixie and Randy Saxe and Carol Smith are THRILLED to welcome him back home.

NEW FIELD CHAMPION!!!  Zuri's Ropasa Escapade earned her AKC Field Champion title in October.   She is now FC Zuri's Ropasa Escapade, SC  and has made owner, Robyn Sasso, very proud.  Way to go Zuri!!

This next New Champion also has a HUGE brag to announce as well as a new Championship.  Pictured with his handler, Linda Whitney, and Judge Kent Delaney is Ch. Khalfani's Safari Sunset by Tigris, "BG"  BG won the 12-15 month dog class at the 2011 RRCUS National Specialty held in Rapid City, South Dakota.  BG went on to finish his championship at the Ocala Supported Shows with back to back 4 point majors.  BG has made his dog mom and dog dad, Paula Alshouse, DVM and Alan Alshouse VERY proud.

Also finishing her championship at the Ocala Supported shows is Ch. Kimani's Rising Star at Windermere.  Star finished with a 5 point major and made her mom, Elaine Petersen, very proud, too

And yet another Florida dog finished their championship at the Ocala Supported shows.  Ch. Ridgehill's Shooter's Red Bullet finished in style with a 5 point major.  Owners, Carol and Bill Smith are very proud of their boy.

We don't have Bullet's picture yet, but will add it when we do.

Tobias finished his championship at the Savannah, Georgia shows, going Winner's Dog the 3 days that she showed. He is now known as Ch. Kengali's Double Naught Spy and is owned and loved by Ginny Merchant.
